Volunteer Work

Dr. Cooney's passion for veterinary medicine has led her to devote time and resources to organizations providing veterinary services for communities with limited access to veterinary care. She volunteered supplies and expertise to Worldwide Veterinary Services (http://www.wvs.org.uk) in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, conducting spay / neuter clinics for both locally owned and stray animals in the regions. She has also volunteered her time with the Alberta Spay Neuter Task Force (http://www.abtaskforce.org) providing services to more remote communities in Alberta.

Pet Family

Shortly after her return home after graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in London, England, she adopted a Jack Russell terrier named Jack (isn't that name original!). Soon afterwards, while working for Animal Bylaw Services at the City of Calgary, she adopted two kittens, a brother and sister (Leo and Lucy), who showed up in a card board box. All three are currently living healthy lives under the loving care of Dr. Cooney and her family.
